The buddy system provides both positive competition and the accountability necessary to help us meet our serious goals when our own resolve and perserverance may not be quite as strong as we need it to be.
The key to making the buddy system work is to choose someone who is significant in your life, someone who you don't want to disappoint. It's also important that your buddy be as committed to your common goal as you are.
The buddy system is a powerful tool to ensure success whether it be diet goals, fitness goals, or even academic goals. Humans are social creatures and our need for approval, acceptance, and affection is deeply-rooted and when we apply a proven technique such as the buddy system to address our needs, we have a much higher chance of reaching our goals.
Publicize your intention to make lifestyle changes to your family and/or friends. Once you have spoken your goals out loud to others, it's more difficult to back out of them.

Create a lunch club at the office where once a week each member is responsible for bringing a healthy, balanced, meal in for the group.
